Finger Lickin’ Good: Miami, FL (Part II)

Same city. New restaurants. Miami may just be one of my favorite cities to grab a good meal.

Nothing tops spicy tacos and a refreshing mojito on a nice sunny day. Finger Lickin’ Good: Miami, FL (part II) never looked so good.

From Downtown to South Beach, see which restaurants made this trip’s list.

Morgan’s

Named after their oldest daughter, Morgan’s restaurant offers a homey atmosphere with a cute porch. They have an array variety of healthy meals that will surprise you. Keep your eyes open because the sign isn’t really detectable from the road.

What’s on the Menu:

Chicken and Waffles – $18

Chocolate Dipped Waffle – $15

Coated in chocolate, fresh whipped cream, strawberries, and vanilla ice cream

Dig in?

PASS – Not only was the service lacking, but so was the flavor. We eventually had to hunt down a server to take our order. They were friendly but seemed tired. Although the food came out presentable, the waffle was cold, saggy and gave me that mushy/already chewed up feeling.

The chicken was so bland that I had to add 2 different hot sauces and some pepper to finish. The chocolate waffle was just a hot mess. You’re better off making it yourself.

DOWN N’ DIRTY TACOS & TEQUILA BAR

1144 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL | www.downanddirtytacos.com

Finger Lickin' Good: Miami, FL (Part II)Finger Lickin' Good: Miami, FL (Part II)

Fun, artsy, and good food. What more could you ask for? Down N’ Dirty is just one of many restaurants on Ocean Drive that tries to hassle you into dining with them with their quick mumbled specials. We originally planned on just getting froyo next door, however, they had a “we’ll be back in 30” sign. So instead of waiting, we figured $1 tacos and a mojito didn’t sound like a bad idea. Check this out…

What’s on the Menu:

Southwest Skirt Steak – $1 each (when you buy a drink at regular price)

Corn tortillas, grilled steak, cabbage, onions, cilantro and chipotle crema

Passion Mojitos – $14 (Two sizes: standard drinks $14, fishbowls $22)

Orange infused rum and fresh red passion fruit glaze

Finger Lickin' Good: Miami, FL (Part II)

Dig in?

YES – I fell in love with the decor and overall vibe. We were the only ones sitting inside and still had fun. One sip of the mojito and bite of the tacos and I was hooked! I will never have another mojito the same again – the best so far. We would’ve sat there and ordered tacos on tacos on tacos if it wasn’t for us still wanting froyo. I will definitely be returning!

I’m going to be honest, this restaurant was a random find. It wasn’t what I expected when we pulled up. A small Spanish café that offers a zesty style brunch. Seating is a little competitive and wait time is just that, wait. A lot.

Dig in?

YES – Just don’t expect to be in and out.

Service was slow – it took us an hour to get our food. English isn’t their first language so I’m sure the communication from the table to the kitchen slips. Understandable.

Minus the wait, the food was great! The steak was seasoned perfectly – Juicy, tender and mouth watering.

My potatoes were cold (possibly because I asked them to fry the eggs again since they were still runny 🤢) and they could’ve used some seasoning. Everything else was amazing. Bacon cooked to my crisp liking, toasty buttered croissant, and good spices.

This small Italian café, on the ground floor of the Doubletree Hilton, was named after the famous 1963 Federico Fellini movie 8 1/2. It mainly serves various breakfast and lunch items from croissant sandwiches to flatbread pizza. An easily missed, must have, restaurant.

Dig in?

YES x 10 – I would’ve had this every morning if I knew about it sooner. It’s very simple yet, the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Order the maxi croissant! You won’t be disappointed. I believe they overcharged me for the croissant almond because I don’t see how Nutella cost $2+.

Great dish choice. The beef was nicely juiced from the gravy/sauce and seasoned to perfection. Haven’t found a better Cubans spot since Havanas.

Dig in?

YES – We decided to expand our options by sharing each tapas. Let’s break it down…

Brussel Sprouts – CRACK on a plate. We were so hooked we ordered two. The crispy edges mixed with the almonds and vinegret, mmm! You’ll leave questioning your new love for vegetables.

Shrimp Kebab – Tasty grilled shrimps with a good kick of spice.

Moussakah – Great combination of flavors.

Spicy Potatoes – Probably the first meal I didn’t have to add hot sauce to. Perfectly spiced!
